The BSA Boardsailing award has been developed to introduce Scouts to basic boardsailing skills, equipment, and safety precautions; to encourage the development of skills that promote fitness and safe aquatic recreation; and to lay a skill and knowledge foundation for those who will later participate in more advanced and demanding activities on the water. Boardsailing BSA is well suited as a program feature for older Scouts at summer camp. |

The Den Chief Service Award is awarded to a Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, or Venturer who has served as a Den Chief and completed the requirements listed below. Den Chiefs who earn the award may wear the Service Award in addition to the standard den chief cord of their office, and may continue to wear it for as long as they are a youth Scout. |

The 50-Miler Award is presented to each qualifying individual for satisfactory participation in an approved trip. In order to qualify for the award the group of which the individual is a member must fulfill all of the following requirements |

The Firem'n Chit certification grants a Scout the right to carry matches and build campfires. The Scout must show his Scout leader, or someone designated by his leader, that he understands his responsibility . |

Love of America and devotion to our country depend upon a thorough appreciation of the ideals, principles, and traditions that have made our country strong. Historic Trails Award requirements emphasize cooperation between historic societies and Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturer units. A unit should establish a close relationship a local society as soon as possible when planning a historic activity - most communities have such societies. |

Youth and adult members (Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturers, and Sea Scouts, plus Scouters in all programs) may wear the Interperter Strip if they show their knowledge of a foreign language or the sign language for the hearing impaired. |

Kayaking BSA provides an introduction to kayaking skills and safety procedures and serves as a program opportunity for Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing units in camp or out. Mastery of Kayaking BSA skills is a first critical step towards satisfying Safety Afloat guidelines for safe kayak excursions. |

Leave No Trace is a plan that helps people to be more concerned about their environment and to help them protect it for future generations. Leave No Trace applies in a backyard or local park (frontcountry) as much as it does in the wilderness (backcountry). |

A scout that has earned his Totin' Chip can demonstrate advanced woodsman skills by teaching Totin' Chip skills to other scouts and completing a woodsman work project. Once completed he will have earned the Paul Bunyan Woodsman Award |

"A Scout is reverent." All Scouts show this by being faithful in their duty to God. Some go further and give special service. This can qualify them for a religious emblem. Such an emblem is not a Scouting award. It is conferred on a Scout by his religious leader. Each faith has its own requirements for earning its emblem. |

Scuba BSA introduces qualified Boy Scout, Venturing and registered adult participants to the special skills, equipment and safety precautions associated with scuba diving, encourages aquatics activities that promote fitness and recreation and provides a foundation for those who later will participate in more advanced underwater activity. |

William T. Hornaday awards are presented for distinguished service in natural resource conservation for units, Scouts, Venturers, and Scouters. Boy Scouts may earn the Hornaday Badge or the Hornaday Bronze or Silver Medal. |

The World Conservation Award provides an opportunity for individual Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturers to "think globally" and "act locally" to preserve and improve our environment. This program is designed to make youth members aware that all nations are closely related through natural resources and that we are interdependent with our world environment. |

The very best patrols exhibit enthusiasm, teamwork, and camaraderie - that special spark known as patrol spirit. The National Honor Patrol Award is given to patrols whose members make an extra effort to have the best patrol possible. Your patrol can earn the award by doing the following over a period of three months. Your patrol may earn multiple award patches by meeting the requirements in additional 3 month time periods. |
